Board a private motorized skiff and glide deep into the várzea flooded forest as the Amazon sky ignites at dusk. Spot pink river dolphins, scarlet macaws, and three-toed sloths with an expert naturalist guide entirely to yourself.
What to expect
Depart the pier by private motor canoe and head upstream into the labyrinthine igarapés (forest channels) surrounding Parintins. Your naturalist reads the forest: a sloth hanging motionless in a cecropia tree, the explosive pink arc of a boto dolphin surfacing beside the bow, and flocks of parrots blazing overhead. As the light turns golden, the guide cuts the engine and you sit in near-perfect Amazon silence — birdsong, water drips, the distant call of a howler monkey. Return to the pier as stars begin to emerge over the river.
Good to know
Depart no later than 4 hours before all-aboard to capture golden-hour light. Bring insect repellent and a lightweight layer for the water breeze. Life jackets are provided. Confirm sunset time with your guide and plan accordingly.
