Enter the inner sanctums of both rival Boi Bumbá tribes — the red-and-white Garantido and the blue-and-black Caprichoso — for a rare dual-access VIP experience that reveals the full passion and artistry behind Parintins' epic annual rivalry.
What to expect
Begin at Curral do Boi Garantido, the legendary home of the red-and-white tribe, where your guide — a trusted community insider — introduces you to the chief artisans at work on next year's elaborate floats. The scale and craftsmanship are staggering: papier-mâché creatures twelve meters tall, hand-sewn feather headdresses, and murals depicting Amazonian mythology. Then cross town to the Caprichoso compound for the rival perspective — equally passionate, with a distinctly different aesthetic rooted in shamanic imagery. Taste local snacks prepared by community members and hear both tribes' toada anthems performed live.
Good to know
Both Curral compounds are within 15 minutes of the pier by local taxi. The full dual-access tour runs approximately 3 hours. Pre-book at least 2–3 weeks ahead as community access requires advance liaison. Small tips for the artisans are warmly appreciated.
