Bornholm is Denmark's art island, and its glass-blowing ateliers are world-class. A private master class with a resident glass artist — blowing your own Baltic-inspired piece — is a truly unique keepsake.
What to expect
Bornholm has been a magnet for Scandinavian artists and craftspeople for over a century, and its glass-blowing tradition is internationally renowned. At Pernille Bülow's sun-drenched studio, you are welcomed into a working atelier rather than a tourist attraction. The master artist guides you — hands-on — through gathering molten glass on the blowpipe, shaping, colouring, and finishing your own piece inspired by the island's sea and light. The studio's gallery of finished works is a feast of colour and form, and your own creation is carefully packed for the journey home.
Good to know
The studio is located in Melsted, approx. 25 km from Rønne — combine with the Gudhjem smokehouse lunch for a perfect art-and-food day. Book the private master class well in advance by contacting the studio directly; they are in high demand during cruise season. Closed glass-blowing area is warm — dress in light layers.
