What to expect
Your guide picks you up dockside and drives through the otherworldly 'Fire Mountains', stopping at geothermal pits where water poured into the earth erupts as a geyser within seconds. You'll feel the heat radiating through the ground at the famous restaurant grill demonstration. The coach-only 'Ruta de los Volcanes' is followed on foot where permitted, with time to absorb the lunar silence. The return route takes in Los Hervideros sea caves and the haunting green lagoon at El Golfo.

Arrecife port is roughly 25–30 minutes from Timanfaya. Pre-book the small-group tour directly with Lanzarote Experience Tours; spaces are strictly limited. Allow a full 5–6 hours; check your ship's all-aboard time and confirm departure no later than 4 hours before.
