Watch the Moreška — a centuries-old battle sword dance unique to Korčula — performed by costumed warriors in a thunderous outdoor spectacle. This living UNESCO-listed tradition is performed nowhere else on Earth.
What to expect
Held in the open-air theatre just outside the Old Town walls, the Moreška tells the story of two kings fighting for the hand of a princess — and the full-contact choreography of clashing real swords is electrifying. Dancers in red and black costumes perform seven rounds of escalating intensity, accompanied by a live brass band. The atmosphere — warm Adriatic evening, stone walls glowing amber — is cinematic. Performances run on specific evenings (traditionally Thursdays in summer, with additional dates in peak season); your guide can confirm the schedule for your port day.
