Mount Isabel de Torres Cable Car & Botanical Gardens Summit

Ride a Swiss-built cable car 800 metres above Puerto Plata to a mountaintop crowned by a giant Christ statue, sweeping ocean panoramas, and lush botanical gardens. One of the most jaw-dropping viewpoints in the Caribbean.

What to expect

The gondola glides silently above tropical forest canopy, revealing a breathtaking panorama of Puerto Plata's rooftops, the Atlantic coastline, and Amber Cove's turquoise bay far below. At the summit, stroll through the national botanical gardens — orchids, bromeliads, towering palms — before standing at the feet of the Cristo Redentor statue for a view that rivals Rio de Janeiro's. Descend refreshed and ready to explore the Victorian gingerbread architecture of Puerto Plata's historic centre.

Good to know

The cable car sometimes closes in heavy cloud or wind — check conditions on the morning of your port day. Allow 4–5 hours for the full city-highlights-plus-Teleférico combination. Taxis and private drivers are readily available at the Amber Cove port gate for the short 10-minute transfer to town.
