Walk the iconic loop trail through one of the Galápagos' most spectacular nesting colonies — blue-footed boobies sky-pointing in courtship, frigatebirds with ballooned red pouches, and Galápagos sea lions sprawled across every rock. Pure, unhurried wildlife immersion at its finest.
What to expect
The 2 km loop trail winds through dry palo santo forest and lava flats where wildlife has right of way — the trail bends around nesting boobies, not the other way around. Your licensed naturalist guide narrates each encounter: the precise angle of a booby's sky-point display, the aerobatic kleptoparasitism of frigatebirds, the indifference of land iguanas basking in your path. Groups are deliberately small, ensuring everyone gets front-row viewing. A fresh ceviche-and-grilled-fish lunch is served on the vessel before or after the walk.
Good to know
Morning departures from Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz) are strongly preferred — lower sun angle makes photography spectacular and wildlife is most active. Wear light, neutral-coloured clothing and non-slip shoes. Book directly with Metropolitan Touring; spaces fill weeks ahead during peak season (June–November).
