Between August and October, Ningaloo hosts migrating humpback whales and permits the world's rarest tourism activity: in-water encounters with these 40-tonne giants. A marine biologist guides you into the blue alongside mothers and calves.
What to expect
A spotter plane tracks the humpbacks across the deep-blue Ningaloo waters while your expert crew prepares the small group. When conditions align, you roll into the water in groups of four, meeting a whale eye-to-eye — an experience most marine biologists describe as life-changing. The operator's naturalist provides a full briefing on humpback behaviour. Luxury refreshments and a freshly prepared lunch are served on deck between encounters.

Seasonal: August–October only. This is one of Australia's most rapidly selling-out wildlife experiences — book 3–6 months in advance. Departs Exmouth Marina. Check your cruise call date against the season window carefully; if dates align, prioritise this over almost anything else.
