Board a purpose-built vessel and come face-to-face with one of the largest fur seal colonies in the Southern Hemisphere — over 20,000 animals basking on Seal Rocks. Raw, wild, utterly spectacular.
What to expect
The cruise departs Cowes Jetty and heads east along the island's dramatic southern coastline, past sea caves and basalt cliffs, before arriving at Seal Rocks where the sheer scale of the colony is breathtaking. Seals surf the bow wave, bask in writhing piles on the rocks, and bark at each other with zero regard for your presence. A knowledgeable onboard naturalist narrates throughout. On a lucky day, dolphins, little penguins, and sea eagles join the show.
Good to know
Cruises typically run 2 hours; confirm the afternoon departure to ensure comfortable return before all-aboard. Departs directly from Cowes Jetty — no transfers needed if you tender into Cowes. Book direct online; the seal cruise can sell out in peak season. Bring a warm layer — it's brisk on the water even in summer.
