Board a small rigid inflatable with a marine biologist guide and motor along the protected Maremma coastline, snorkelling in three distinct underwater habitats — posidonia forests, rocky reefs, and sea-grass meadows teeming with colour. A front-row encounter with Tuscany's most biodiverse marine world.
What to expect
The rigid inflatable departs Porto Santo Stefano marina and skims south along the Maremma's protected coastline, stopping first at a shallow posidonia meadow where sea horses and cuttlefish hide in plain sight. The second stop is a sunlit rocky reef carpeted with violet sea urchins and darting chromis. The third — a deeper channel — rewards confident snorkellers with glimpses of octopus and large dentex. All equipment (mask, fins, wetsuit) is provided and fitted before departure.
Good to know
Half-day tour runs approximately 3.5 hours; morning departures are best for calm water and visibility. No prior snorkelling experience required, but basic swimming confidence is essential. Book at least one week ahead — groups are capped at 8 to preserve the marine environment. Reef-safe sunscreen only.
