Two miles on, Gunsgreen House presides theatrically over Eyemouth harbour — its hidden cupboards, false floors and secret stairways revealing the extraordinary double life of its builder, merchant and master smuggler John Nisbet. Gunsgreen House is open seasonally — check opening days at gunsgreenhouse.org before visiting. A local taxi from St Abbs Harbour to Eyemouth costs approx. GBP 8–10 each way. Combined visit takes 2.5–3 hours comfortably. Pre-purchase Gunsgreen entry online. Leave 45 minutes to return to the harbour for all-aboard.
