Glide across Shimizu's inner harbour on the famous water bus to Miho Beach — a UNESCO World Heritage pine-grove shore with a front-row, unobstructed view of Mt. Fuji rising above Suruga Bay.
What to expect
The short ferry crossing from Shimizu Port's Kashi-no-Ichi fish market pier takes roughly 15 minutes and gives you your first unobstructed view of Fuji from the water. Arriving at Miho Beach, you step straight onto soft sand backed by a dense pine corridor — a landscape that has inspired Japanese painters and poets for centuries. Walk the grove at leisure, pause at the famous 'Hagoromo no Matsu' pine (the feather-robe legend tree), and photograph the mountain from the shoreline. Return via the water bus at your chosen time.
Good to know
Water buses run roughly every 30 minutes; check the live schedule at the Kashi-no-Ichi pier terminal on the day. Fuji is most clearly visible in the morning before coastal haze builds — aim for the first sailing. Combine with a visit to Kashi-no-Ichi fish market (5 min walk from the pier) for fresh tuna and local street food before or after.
