Ascend 650 metres above Fort William in the only mountain gondola in Scotland, arriving at a spectacular alpine plateau with jaw-dropping views across Ben Nevis, the Great Glen, and the Western Isles. The Highland high-altitude experience without the full summit climb.
What to expect
The enclosed eight-person cabins sweep smoothly up through pine forest before emerging above the treeline onto open mountain. At the top, Snowgoose Restaurant serves locally sourced Highland lunches with floor-to-ceiling mountain views — the perfect elevated lunch setting. Guided summit walks are available from the top station with Nevis Range's own mountain guides, exploring the Aonach Mòr plateau. In winter the area is a ski resort; in summer, mountain bikers share the slopes with walkers — the energy is exhilarating.
Good to know
Located just 7 km from Fort William town centre; a taxi takes approximately 10 minutes. Gondola runs year-round (weather permitting); pre-book at the busy summer peak. Allow 2–3 hours including lunch. Bring a warm layer — summit temperatures are significantly cooler than the town.
