Visit one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries, sitting in the shadow of Ben Nevis itself, for an expert-led tour and an exclusive tutored tasting of rare, aged Highland single malts. Whisky pilgrimage meets mountain grandeur in one unforgettable hour.
What to expect
The tour begins in the original Victorian still house, where a guide explains the unique mineral-rich water drawn directly from the River Nevis and the distillery's signature heavily peated style. The premium tasting session then moves to a private room where you work through four to six expressions, including rare cask-strength and aged releases poured straight from bonded stock. The setting — with Ben Nevis looming outside the window — is impossibly atmospheric. A well-stocked shop offers bottles to take aboard.
Good to know
Located less than 1.5 km from the town centre; walkable or a short taxi ride. Pre-book premium tasting sessions directly with the distillery to secure your preferred time slot. Allow 1.5–2 hours. Designated drivers and non-drinkers are warmly accommodated with non-alcoholic alternatives.
