Board a private boat across Skagafjörður fjord to Drangey — the sheer-cliffed island where outlaw Grettir the Strong hid for years. Climb to the plateau, meet nesting puffins, and absorb saga history from a local expert guide.
What to expect
The RIB or small vessel departs Sauðárkrókur harbour and crosses the dramatic fjord to Drangey's landing point. A steep but manageable trail leads to the plateau, where tens of thousands of puffins, guillemots, and razorbills nest in the basalt cliffs. Your guide weaves the real Grettis Saga into the landscape as you walk. The return crossing offers sweeping views of the Tröllaskagi mountain peninsula.
