It is the single experience that feels uniquely Sicilian: standing on fresh lava with the Mediterranean behind you, then returning to the ship with the rest of the afternoon free. The street-food tour is excellent but replicable in other Italian ports; a morning on Etna is not. At €60 it also leaves money and energy for an unhurried wander through the baroque centre on your own clock. The ship tour does the same route with more padding, but the direct morning jeep version strikes the better balance for experienced cruisers who simply want to see the volcano without surrendering the entire day.
