The ship berths at the Melville Street Cruise Terminal, right in the middle of St. George’s. Larger vessels dock alongside; you walk straight off through the Esplanade Shopping Mall into town. Smaller ships, including many from Windstar and some Celebrity calls, may use the Inner Harbour and land you on The Carenage instead. On busy days with multiple vessels, overflow ships anchor and tender in — check your sailing. No shuttle is needed. The Carenage is roughly a 10-minute walk from the main terminal, though the pavements are hilly and uneven.
Gangway to all-aboard is straightforward when docked. Typical all-aboard is 30-60 minutes before the ship sails; confirm the exact time on your daily programme the night before. The first-timer trap here is underestimating return logistics on multi-ship days. With MSC (14 sailings), Windstar (7), Celebrity (7) and Princess (6) calling over the next four months, congestion at the terminal and taxi rank spikes in the final 90 minutes. Queues form, water taxis can be suspended in chop, and independent travellers discover the ship won’t wait. Build in a personal buffer of at least 60-90 minutes before all-aboard, more if heading to the rainforest or falls.

For the two higher-priced excursions with limited Viator reviews (2 and 1 respectively), the ship version may be the less stressful buy if you value a fixed schedule and driver who knows the last tender or gangway deadline. For the lower-priced beach-and-chocolate or nature escape options, direct booking leaves meaningful cash in your pocket without sacrificing the core experience.
Assume an 8am gangway and 4:30pm all-aboard. Book Grand Anse Beach And Grenada House Of Chocolate with a morning slot. Disembark by 8:30am, reach the beach by water taxi or short taxi ride, and aim to be back at the terminal by 2pm. Skip anything inland — no Annandale Falls, no rainforest tubing, no Fort Frederick. The half-day plan is beach time plus the quick chocolate stop, then a relaxed walk around the Carenage before returning. This keeps you well inside the buffer and avoids the afternoon rain that often rolls in.
With a full port day, start with Grand Anse Beach And Grenada House Of Chocolate in the morning while the light is best and crowds are thinner. Return to town for lunch, then take Grenada Nature Escape: Rainforest, Waterfall & Beach Adventure in the early afternoon. Disembark 8:00am, finish the beach/chocolate portion by 11:30am, back at the ship area by 12:30pm, depart for the nature escape by 1:00pm and aim to be at the terminal no later than 3:00pm for a comfortable 4:30pm all-aboard. Skip the two longer, higher-priced tours with minimal reviews; they eat the day and add risk on busy calls.
If I could pick only one, it would be Grand Anse Beach And Grenada House Of Chocolate. At USD 45 it delivers the island’s best beach without the schedule pressure of the USD 125–130 options, leaves time to wander St. George’s on your own terms, and still lets you taste the local flavour at the chocolate house. The ship’s version of the bigger tours is a legitimate safety net when you want zero hassle, but for experienced cruisers who know how to read an all-aboard time, the lower-priced direct choice gives a better ratio of Grenada to markup.
