A bike tour is one of the better ways to see Cartagena's historic center. You'll cover the walled Old Town, colorful Getsemaní, and a few quieter parks in about two to three hours without melting in the heat or fighting for taxis. Expect a mix of smooth pavement and some rough cobblestones; the guide will keep the pace easy for normal fitness levels. You'll stop for photos and quick history lessons at key spots like the clock tower, plazas, and street art areas. It's genuinely enjoyable if you like cycling, but it does mean riding in traffic and dealing with the usual Caribbean heat and humidity.
Best time is December to March when temperatures are slightly lower and rain is rare. Expect to pay around $35–65 per person for a standard group tour including bike rental and a decent guide. Private tours or ones with lunch run higher. Skip the big busier tours if you want real conversation with the guide; smaller groups (under eight people) are noticeably better. Don't bother with tours that add long detours to the beach or forts unless you're in great shape and love riding in midday sun — stick to the city center instead.
