Blue Hole Swimming Excursion from Montego Bay

The Blue Hole is a series of limestone pools and waterfalls about 45-60 minutes from Montego Bay. Expect cool, clear turquoise water, a 10-15 minute easy hike, cliff jumps from 10-20 feet, rope swings, a small cave to swim into, and a couple of waterfalls you can stand under. It's a genuinely fun half-day adventure if you like a bit of physical activity and aren't afraid of heights. Most tours combine it with Dunn's River Falls, turning it into a full day. The water stays refreshing year-round but can feel cold if you've been baking on the beach.

Best time to go is December to April when it's drier and the water is clearest. Avoid peak cruise-ship days if you can; the site gets crowded. Expect to pay around $85–$130 per person from Montego Bay including transport, guide, and usually lunch or snacks. Private tours or luxury vans push toward the higher end.

Honest tips: Pick the version that includes Dunn's River only if you actually want two waterfall experiences in one day; otherwise the standalone Blue Hole trip is more relaxed. Skip the rope swing if you're not confident swimming or have any back/shoulder issues — the jumps and swimming are plenty of fun on their own. Wear water shoes or sturdy sandals with good grip; the rocks are slippery.
