Blue Lagoon Island is a small private cay about 20 minutes by boat from Nassau. Expect a manufactured but pleasant beach-club experience: white sand, clear shallow water, plenty of loungers, a buffet lunch, and optional animal encounters. The dolphin, sea lion, and stingray programs are the main draw for many visitors; the rest is basically a relaxed day at a clean, crowded resort island. It’s not a deserted tropical paradise—there will be several hundred other cruise passengers on busy days.
Best time is December to April when the weather is breezy and dry. Expect to pay around $120–$250 per person depending on whether you choose the basic boat transfer and beach access or add dolphin swims and other animal interactions. Transportation from your hotel or cruise port is usually included.
Honest tip: If you love close animal encounters and don’t mind the price, the dolphin swim is professionally run and genuinely fun. If you’re on a tighter budget or prefer pure beach time, skip the paid programs entirely and just enjoy the sand and snorkel gear—they provide it for free. Go early in the day if you can; the later boats get noticeably more crowded.
