Should You Visit Blue Lagoon Island?

Expect a manufactured but pleasant beach day on a small private island a short boat ride from Nassau. The water is clear and calm, the sand is soft, and you'll share the space with several hundred other cruise passengers and day-trippers. You can swim, lounge in a chair with a drink, or pay extra for dolphin, sea lion, or stingray encounters. It's not a quiet deserted cay; think organized beach club with music, lunch buffet, and organized activities like Segway tours or paddleboarding. Most people enjoy it as a low-effort escape from Nassau's bustle, especially if you're on a cruise with limited time.

Best time is December through April when the weather is driest and temperatures are most comfortable. Summer and fall bring higher heat, humidity, and rain risk plus the chance of hurricanes. Expect to pay around $110–$180 per adult for a basic beach package including transport, lunch, and access; add $50–$150+ per person if you want the animal encounters. Kids are cheaper. The dolphin swim is the most popular upsell but books up fast.

Honest tip: Skip the expensive animal programs unless interacting with dolphins is genuinely important to you; the beach, snorkel gear, and open bar are usually sufficient for a solid day. Pick a morning departure so you return before the afternoon thunderstorms that pop up frequently in summer.
