Expect a serious adrenaline hit. You’ll be harnessed into a giant swing that drops you off the edge of a steep canyon wall, flying out over the jungle with a waterfall roaring below. The free-fall feeling lasts only a few seconds but feels much longer. After the initial swing, operators usually pull you back for a few more gentle arcs so you can actually look around. The views are genuinely spectacular — layered green ridges and mist from the falls — but it’s a short experience (maybe 5–7 minutes on the swing itself). Most people do it once and feel satisfied. Heights range from smaller 10–20m swings to monster 70m+ drops; choose based on your nerve.
Best time is May to September during the dry season when the weather is more predictable and the trails aren’t slippery. Expect to pay around $25–45 per person for a basic swing package including photos and transport from Ubud; add $10–20 if you want the biggest swing or a private session. Skip the full-day tours that bundle it with temples and other stops — they’re rushed and exhausting. Tip: book the biggest swing you’re comfortable with in the morning when it’s cooler and crowds are thinner. The experience is exactly as intense as it looks in videos, so only do it if you actually enjoy heights.
