Coral Island Speedboat from Phuket: Worth It?

The speedboat ride to Coral Island (Koh Hey) takes about 15 minutes from Chalong Pier and drops you at a busy but genuinely pretty beach with clear water. Expect a full-day trip of 6–7 hours that usually includes snorkeling stops, lunch on the island, and time to swim or relax. The sea can get choppy, especially in the afternoon, so the boat ride is fast but not always smooth. The island itself is developed with jet skis, banana boats, and crowds — it’s not a remote paradise, but the underwater life at the better snorkel spots is still decent if you go on a calm day.

Best time is December to April when the Andaman Sea is calmest and visibility is good. May–October sees rougher seas and more rain, with many operators cancelling or changing routes.
