Parasailing in Phuket is straightforward: you get harnessed up behind a speedboat, get towed into the air for 8-12 minutes, and float 100-200 meters above the water with views of the coastline, islands, and beaches. It's not a thrill ride like bungee jumping – more like a gentle, scenic float with a short burst of acceleration at takeoff and landing. Most trips include a speedboat ride out to the parasailing zone, often near Patong or Coral Island. The whole activity usually takes 1-2 hours from hotel pickup to drop-off. It's suitable for most people over about 40kg, but pregnant travelers, those with recent injuries or serious back problems should skip it.

The best time is December to April when the Andaman Sea is usually calmer and winds are more predictable. Avoid the peak monsoon months of June to October – the sea gets rough and many operators cancel. Expect to pay around $35-65 per person depending on whether it's a basic flight or part of a longer island-hopping package that includes banana boat or snorkeling stops. Solo flyers usually pay more; sharing the parachute with a partner brings the price down.

Pick the shorter morning trips when the sea and air are calmer. Skip the upsell photos and videos – the boat crew takes plenty and the quality is average while the markup is high. If you're prone to seasickness, take something beforehand because the speedboat ride can be bumpy.
