Should You Do a Corniche Cruise in Abu Dhabi?

A Corniche cruise gives you the only decent way to see Abu Dhabi’s waterfront skyline from the water. Expect a smooth, air-conditioned boat (or open deck depending on the vessel) gliding past Qasr Al Watan, Etihad Towers, and the impressive Presidential Palace. The 1- to 2-hour trips usually include basic commentary, soft drinks, and sometimes snacks. It’s relaxing rather than thrilling — perfect if you want a comfortable overview without traffic or crowds on land. Don’t expect marine life or wild adventure; this is a gentle sightseeing cruise with good photo opportunities of the modern architecture.

Best time is November to March when it’s cooler and sunset cruises are genuinely pleasant. Summer evening sails are possible but the heat and humidity can make the deck experience sweaty. Expect to pay around $35–65 per person depending on duration, time of day, and whether it’s a small-group or larger boat. Sunset trips cost more but are usually the better choice.

Tip: pick a smaller boat (under 15 people) if you can — the experience feels more personal and you get better views. Skip the cheapest large party boats; they’re crowded, louder, and the guide is often just reading from a script. Book for late afternoon or sunset to avoid the harsh midday glare that washes out photos.
