Aruba offers solid diving and snorkeling with warm, clear water and a handful of accessible wrecks and reefs. On a typical half-day boat excursion you’ll spend 30–45 minutes motoring out, then do one or two dives or snorkel stops. The signature site is the Antilla wreck, a large WWII German freighter sitting in 50–60 ft of water; most trips combine it with a shallow reef for snorkelers. Visibility usually runs 60–100 ft, marine life is modest but reliable—turtles, rays, parrotfish, and the occasional barracuda. The boat ride can be breezy; bring a light jacket even if the air temperature is warm.
The best time is January through April when seas are calmest and visibility peaks. Expect to pay around $80–$130 for a half-day snorkel trip and $110–$180 for a two-tank scuba excursion, gear and transfers included. Book a morning departure; the water is flatter and you avoid the afternoon chop that sometimes appears from May onward.
Tip: Choose a small-group operator that limits passengers per trip—less crowded briefings and more time in the water. Skip the full-day “sunset sail and snorkel” packages if your main goal is actual diving; they’re geared more toward drinking than bottom time.
