Aruba offers solid Caribbean diving with clear water, plenty of wrecks, and healthy reefs that are easy for beginners and enjoyable for experienced divers. Most trips are two-tank morning dives reaching 30-100 ft. Expect 45-60 minutes bottom time per dive, basic boat snacks, and a relaxed pace. Visibility usually runs 60-100 ft, though it can drop after storms. The wrecks (like the Antilla) are the highlight for many; reef dives are pleasant but not world-class compared to Bonaire or Curaçao.
Best time is January through April when seas are calmest and visibility is typically best. July to November brings rougher water and more rain, though marine life can be more active. Expect to pay around $120-180 for a standard two-tank boat dive including gear and guide; private trips or night dives run $200-350 per person. snorkel trips are cheaper at $60-90.
Book a small-group tour if you can; large cattle boats are less personal and spend more time loading gear. Skip the “sunset cruise and snorkel” packages if you actually want to dive — they’re geared toward non-divers. Bring your own computer if you have one; rental gear is fine but older. If you’re prone to seasickness, take something before the boat leaves the dock — the crossing to some sites can be choppy.
