Is the Edge at Hudson Yards Worth It?

The Edge is a glass-walled observation deck that sticks out from the 100th floor of a Hudson Yards tower. You stand on a slanted glass floor 1,100 feet up with serious views of Manhattan, the Hudson River, and New Jersey. Expect wind, crowds, and a lot of phones in the air. The experience is short—maybe 30-45 minutes once you're up there—but the thrill of standing over that glass floor is real for most people. It's not life-changing, but it's genuinely impressive on a clear day.

Best time is spring or fall. Summer is hot and hazy; winter can be brutally cold on the outdoor terraces. Go right at opening or in the last hour before sunset if you want fewer people. Expect to pay around $40–$65 per person for a standard timed ticket. Adding a skip-the-line or guided tour pushes it closer to $70–$90. Sunset tickets cost more but sell out fastest.

Pick a weekday morning slot if you can. Skip the overpriced cocktails and “immersive” add-ons; they’re mostly marketing. The basic ticket gets you everything worth seeing. If you already have a good view from the Empire State or Summit, this one is skippable unless you specifically want the glass-floor moment.
