Singapore Flyer: Worth It?

The Singapore Flyer is a giant observation wheel that gives you a full 360-degree sweep of the city, Marina Bay, the port, and the financial district. A standard ride lasts about 30 minutes with one full rotation. Expect clean, air-conditioned capsules that hold up to 28 people, though you'll usually share with fewer. It's smooth and slow enough that even people nervous about heights usually feel fine. The view is genuinely impressive at night when the city lights up, but it can feel a bit touristy and commercial inside the terminal with shops and cafés.

Best time is just before sunset or after dark. Go between 6pm and 9pm for the sweet spot of daylight fading into city lights. Avoid midday unless you love harsh glare and heat haze. Expect to pay around S$35–55 per adult for a standard ticket; combo packages with other attractions push it toward S$70–90. Kids and seniors get discounts.

Pick a standard night ticket and book online in advance to skip the worst queues. Skip the overpriced 'premium' capsule add-ons with snacks and a tiny bit more space unless you're celebrating something specific; the regular capsules are perfectly good. If it's pouring rain or very cloudy, just skip it entirely – the view is the whole point.
