Hidden Beach Boat Tour from Puerto Vallarta

This is a half-day boat trip (usually 4–5 hours) from Puerto Vallarta to the Marietas Islands, about an hour offshore. The main event is a short swim or kayak through a sea cave into Hidden Beach, a dramatic sandy crater open to the sky. You’ll also spend time snorkeling nearby reefs where you can see tropical fish, rays, and sometimes dolphins or whales in season. The boat ride can be bumpy, especially on the return, and the beach visit is tightly controlled—everyone gets about 30–45 minutes before the next group rotates in. It’s popular, so the site feels more like a managed attraction than a deserted paradise, but the natural setting is still impressive.

Best time is November through April when seas are calmer and visibility is better. Summer and fall bring bigger swells that can cancel the Hidden Beach landing entirely. Expect to pay around $80–$130 per person depending on whether you choose a small-group tour, catamaran, or one that includes lunch and gear. Private charters run higher.

Pick a morning departure to avoid the worst crowds and afternoon wind. Skip the cheapest large-party tours if you want decent snorkeling time—smaller boats generally deliver a better experience even if they cost a bit more. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, water shoes for the rocky entry, and a dry bag for your phone.
