Expect a mix of decent historical commentary, heavy traffic in summer, and a very surface-level look at the city. It’s convenient if your time is limited or you hate planning routes, but it won’t replace walking the Freedom Trail or using the regular T. The loop covers the waterfront, North End, Beacon Hill, Back Bay, and parts of the Seaport. In summer the buses get crowded and the narration can be cheesy, but you can stay on for a full lap in about 90 minutes if you don’t hop off.

Best time is late spring or early fall. Summers are hot, humid, and packed; winters can be brutally cold on an open trolley.
