Should You Do the Singapore Night Safari?

The Night Safari is a 40-hectare nocturnal wildlife park where you ride a tram through dimly lit habitats and walk selected trails to see animals active at night. Expect to spot lions, tigers, leopards, civets, flying squirrels, and various deer and antelope. The experience is a mix of tram ride (about 45 minutes with commentary) and optional walking trails. It gets genuinely dark in places, so visibility is limited – you won’t see everything clearly and photography is tricky without flash (which is banned). The atmosphere is calm and a bit mysterious, but it can feel crowded on busy nights with noisy groups.

Best time to visit is during the drier months from June to August when rain is less likely to disrupt the tram schedule. Expect to pay around $50–75 USD for a standard adult ticket that includes the tram ride; guided tours or packages with shows push it toward $140+. Go on a weekday evening if possible to avoid weekend crowds.

Honest tip: Take the tram once for an overview, then walk the Leopard Trail and Fishing Cat Trail – these are the most rewarding. Skip the Creature of the Night show if you’re short on time or energy; it’s entertaining but not essential. Bring mosquito repellent and wear comfortable shoes.
