The Singapore Night Safari is a proper zoo experience after dark. You ride a tram through large, open enclosures where animals that are active at night roam. Expect to see lions, tigers, leopards, hyenas, civets, flying squirrels, and a decent number of deer and antelope. The lighting is subtle red/orange so your eyes adjust and the animals aren't spooked. After or before the tram you walk through a few trails (Fishing Cat, Leopard, etc.). The whole visit takes 2–3 hours. It's well run, clean, and the animals generally look in good condition. That said, it's still a zoo at night — don't expect constant dramatic wildlife sightings like on an African safari.
Best time is during the drier months from February to early April, though it runs year-round. Avoid weekends and Singapore public holidays if you can; the queues get painful. Expect to pay around S$60–85 for a standard adult ticket including the tram ride. Add another S$30–50 if you want hotel transfers or a guided small-group experience. The basic ticket is usually enough.
Smart pick: do the Night Safari on its own rather than in a rushed combo with the Singapore Zoo and Bird Park — you'll be too tired and it becomes a long, blurry day. Go early in the evening (first tram slot) so the animals are more active and the crowds are lighter. Skip the shows if you're short on time; the walking trails and tram are the real point.
