It's a solid day trip if you want a break from Marrakech's chaos. Expect a 2.5–3 hour drive each way through the High Atlas, arriving at a dramatic 110m waterfall that tumbles into pools surrounded by olive groves and macaque monkeys. The experience mixes scenic views, a short hike down (and back up) steep paths, optional boat rides at the base, and lunch at one of the riverside restaurants. It's pretty but touristy — you'll share the site with plenty of other visitors, especially in peak season. The monkeys are wild and entertaining but keep your snacks and bags secure.
Best time to go is spring (March–May) or autumn (September–October) when it's not freezing cold or brutally hot. Summer is brutally crowded and hot; winter can be rainy and slippery. Expect to pay around $25–60 per person depending on whether you go shared minibus, private car, or small-group tour with lunch and boat ride included. Private is worth it if you hate waiting around or want flexibility on timing.
Tip: Skip the big organized tours that herd 40 people at once and book a smaller group or private driver instead — the difference in experience is huge. Bring good walking shoes, sunscreen, and cash for snacks, photos with monkeys, or the boat guys. If you're short on time or hate long drives, it's fine to skip Ouzoud and head to the closer Ourika Valley instead.
