A typical Punta Cana sailing tour lasts 3–4 hours and takes you along the coast with a few stops for swimming or snorkeling. Expect loud music, an open bar, and a party atmosphere on most boats — especially the catamaran tours. The water is beautiful and the views of the coastline are genuinely nice, but it’s rarely a quiet, romantic sail. You’ll usually make two or three stops: one for snorkeling (fish are decent but not spectacular) and another for swimming off the boat. It’s a social, boozy experience that most people enjoy if they go in with the right expectations.

The best time is December through April when the weather is driest and seas are calmest. Avoid August–October if possible — hurricane season brings more rain and rougher water.
