Snorkeling with sea lions in the Los Cabos area usually means a long day trip up to the Sea of Cortez, most often around La Paz or Cabo Pulmo. Expect a 2–3 hour boat ride each way, cold water (even in summer you’ll want a 3–5 mm wetsuit), and curious but wild sea lions that zoom past you, bark underwater, and sometimes playfully nip at fins. The actual snorkel time is often only 30–45 minutes per site. Visibility is usually good to excellent, but it’s a real ocean experience – choppy rides, strong currents possible, and no guarantees the sea lions will show up in huge numbers every day.
