Sea Trek Helmet Diving in Aruba: What to Know

Sea Trek helmet diving lets you walk underwater on a shallow seabed wearing a heavy helmet that pumps air to your head. You’ll be about 15-20 feet down, mostly on a sandy bottom with some coral and fish. The experience lasts around 30 minutes once you’re submerged. It’s not scuba – you breathe normally and stay mostly upright – but the helmet feels bulky and the sound of rushing air is constant. Visibility is usually decent but not crystal clear; you’ll see sergeant majors, parrotfish, and the occasional ray. It’s a good middle ground for non-swimmers or anyone nervous about traditional diving.

The best time is April through November when seas are calmer and rain is rare. December to March can bring stronger winds and surge that stir up sand, reducing visibility. Expect to pay around $90–$130 per person including boat transfer and basic gear; add-ons like photos or videos push it higher. Afternoon slots are often less crowded than mornings.

Pick a morning or early afternoon departure if you want better light and energy. Skip the upgrade packages that mainly sell you overpriced photos – your phone in a waterproof case or a cheap GoPro on a stick works fine. Wear reef-safe sunscreen and bring a towel; the boat ride back can be breezy.
