Sunset Cruise from Liberia: Worth It?

A sunset cruise out of Liberia usually means a 3.5–4.5 hour catamaran trip leaving from nearby Playa Flamingo or Potrero. You motor or sail along the Gold Coast while the sun drops behind the hills. Expect decent open-bar drinks, decent food (fruit, ceviche, sometimes chicken or pasta), and a chance to swim or snorkel if the water is calm. The actual sunset portion is only about 30–40 minutes; the rest is transit, swimming, and hanging on the boat. It’s relaxing but not wildly adventurous. Wildlife sightings are possible but not guaranteed—occasional dolphins, flying fish, or a few seabirds.

Best time is December through April during the dry season when the sky is clearer and the sea is calmer. June–October is greener and cheaper but you’re more likely to get overcast skies and choppy water.
