Expect a mix of climbing, swimming in cool pools, and walking slippery limestone with guides who help you up the tricky bits. The water is clear and refreshing, the jungle backdrop is dense and loud with birds, but these trips are popular so you’ll usually share the falls with other groups. Dunn’s River is the biggest production — fun if you like the social, guided climb — while smaller spots like Blue Hole or Secret Falls feel more relaxed with deeper swimming holes and fewer crowds. Most tours from Montego Bay combine two or three falls in one long day that includes hotel pickup.
The best time is December to April when it’s drier and the water levels aren’t too high, making the rocks less slippery. June to November is hotter, wetter, and the falls can be stronger after rain. Expect to pay around $80–$160 per person depending on whether it’s a simple half-day trip or a full-day combo with multiple stops, lunch, and dolphin swims. Private tours sit at the higher end.
Pick a smaller-group tour that includes Blue Hole if you mainly want to swim and relax in pools; skip the dolphin swim add-on unless that’s genuinely a priority for you — it eats up time and feels tacked on. Wear water shoes with good grip; the cheap ones sold on site are usually a waste of money.
