Ziplining in Maui: Worth It?

Expect a mix of adrenaline and scenery: you'll be harnessed up, briefed on safety, then sent down a series of cables stretching 200-1000+ feet, often 100-200 feet above the valley floor. Tours last 2-3 hours and usually include 5-8 zips, short hikes between platforms, and views of rainforest, waterfalls, or farms. It's physically easy but can feel intense if you're scared of heights. The guides handle everything; your job is to show up reasonably fit, wearing closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get dirty or damp.

Best time is April-October when it's drier and less likely to rain mid-tour. Summer brings more crowds and higher prices; shoulder months (April-May, Sept-Oct) give you decent weather with fewer people. Expect to pay around $150-250 per person depending on tour length and inclusions. Shorter farm-based courses run cheaper; longer mountain tours with bigger drops cost more.

Pick a tour with at least six zips and good reviews for guide quality and equipment maintenance. Skip the add-on "aquaball" or water-park extras unless you specifically want them; they usually feel tacked-on and cut into actual zipline time. If you're nervous, choose the morning slot when you're fresher and temperatures are cooler.
