A paleoanthropological site located 50 km northwest of Johannesburg, South Africa, containing the world's largest known concentration of human ancestral remains within a complex system of limestone caves. The site has yielded numerous fossil discoveries spanning millions of years, including the 2.3-million-year-old Australopithecus africanus 'Mrs. Ples' and over 1,500 bone specimens of Homo naledi, making it a UNESCO World Heritage Site designated in 1999.
