The Hassan II Mosque is the second largest mosque in Africa, completed in 1993, featuring a 210-metre minaret topped with a laser directed towards Mecca and capable of accommodating 105,000 worshippers. Built partially over the Atlantic Ocean on a promontory, visitors can observe handcrafted marble walls, a retractable roof, and surrounding facilities including a madrasa, hammams, a museum on Moroccan history, and a comprehensive Islamic library. The complex also features decorated fountains and well-tended gardens popular for family visits.
