The Munich Residence served as the seat of government and residence of Bavarian rulers from 1508 to 1918, evolving from a 14th-century castle into a magnificent palace with Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical architecture. Visitors can explore the Residence Museum, Treasury, and Cuvilliés Theatre, which together showcase centuries of art collections and the political ambitions of the Wittelsbach dynasty. Largely reconstructed after World War II destruction, it stands today as one of Bavaria's largest museum complexes.
