The Telfair Academy, opened in 1886, is the oldest public art museum in the South, housed in a neoclassical Regency mansion designed by William Jay around 1820. Visitors explore galleries featuring 18th and 19th century American and European fine and decorative art, including paintings, sculpture, silver, and works on paper, displayed in transformed historic rooms and elegant additions like the Rotunda and Sculpture Galleries.
