The Waitākere Ranges is a mountain range in West Auckland, New Zealand, spanning approximately 25 kilometres and rising to 474 metres at its highest point, Te Toiokawharu. The ranges feature native regenerating forest, dramatic western cliffs exceeding 300 metres, and diverse biodiversity including over 110 fern species, native orchids, and endemic plant species like the Waitākere rock koromiko. Visitors explore the area via the Scenic Drive ridge trail and forested walking tracks, though many areas have been closed for kauri dieback disease management and track upgrades.
