Slip into the lagoon shallows off Langebaan to snorkel among a playful colony of wild Cape fur seals. Curious, acrobatic, and utterly unscripted — this is West Coast wildlife at its most intimate.
What to expect
You depart by rubber duck boat from the harbour into the lagoon's edge, gear fitted on board. Guides brief you on seal behaviour before you slip in quietly near the haul-out rocks. Seals often approach divers directly, twisting and diving around you for 30-40 minutes. You warm up with tea and rusks back at the boat house.
Good to know
Wetsuits provided; water is cold year-round so a good-fitting wetsuit matters. Book the earliest morning slot for the calmest water and most active seals; allow 2.5 hours door to door.
