Sit in a traditional lavvo with a Sami reindeer herding family, hear real accounts of herding life, and share a slow-cooked bidos stew.
What to expect
A short transfer brings you to a traditional lavvo where a Sami family shares their relationship to the reindeer, the land, and seasonal migration, often around a wood fire. Lunch is a slow-simmered reindeer stew (bidos) with flatbread, eaten cross-legged the traditional way. Conversation is informal and unhurried — questions are welcomed rather than rushed through.
Good to know
Group sizes are kept under 12; book ahead since the family limits how many groups they host per week. Bring cash for any handmade craft purchases directly from the family.
