Descend the dramatic outer reef wall of Ducie Atoll with a professional underwater photography guide, capturing sharks, pristine coral gardens, and pelagic species that exist in total isolation from the pressures of the modern world.
What to expect
Dropping off the Zodiac's stern into Ducie's crystalline blue, you descend the outer wall to around 18 metres where grey reef sharks cruise in unhurried formation. Your guide positions the group for optimal photographic moments — schools of surgeonfish backlit by shafts of Pacific sunlight, coral bommies encrusted with sea fans and sponges in vivid purples and oranges. Between dives, you review images on deck and receive composition feedback. The second dive targets the atoll's shallower terrace for macro subjects. You will surface with images no stock library could replicate.
Good to know
Divers must hold a PADI Open Water certification minimum; Advanced recommended for the wall section. BCD and regulator available; bring your own underwater camera housing for best results.
