Visit Balandra — consistently voted Mexico's most beautiful beach — on a private or small-group excursion that combines its famously calm turquoise lagoon with guided snorkeling and a stop at the iconic mushroom-shaped rock formation.
What to expect
The 20-minute drive north of the pier delivers you to a horseshoe bay so still it looks photoshopped. Your guide leads a gentle wade through the crystalline shallows to the mushroom rock for photos, then equips you for snorkeling over the seagrass beds teeming with rays, pufferfish, and needlefish. The afternoon light turns the water an impossible neon blue — photographers will shoot hundreds of frames. A cooler of cold drinks and fresh fruit awaits on the beach.
Good to know
Half-day (~4 hours); easy to combine with a whale shark morning. Balandra is a protected natural area — no sunscreen other than reef-safe permitted. Beach shoes recommended for the rocky entry points. Book private transport to guarantee your preferred start time.
