Slip beneath the glassy surface of Fulaga's ancient raised-coral lagoon — one of the most remote and untouched reef systems in the entire South Pacific. Small-group, expert-guided snorkelling through coral bommies, sea arches and underwater caves that few outsiders ever see.
What to expect
Your guide launches from the village beach by outrigger canoe or tender, threading through the narrow lagoon passages framed by jungle-draped coral cliffs. Underwater you'll encounter pristine hard-coral gardens, giant clams, and vivid reef fish in visibility that routinely exceeds 30 metres. The guide identifies species in both English and Fijian, adding cultural depth to the natural wonder. Surface intervals are spent drifting in calm turquoise shallows with a slice of chilled coconut.
Good to know
Fulaga is an expedition/tender port — confirm your ship's all-aboard time and allow 30 min buffer. Pre-book at least 4 weeks ahead as local guide capacity is very limited. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a rash vest, and an underwater camera. Tides matter: arrange a morning session for the calmest lagoon conditions.
